We are working on Phase 2 of the Vacant Lands project: from exploration to installation. In the meantime, check out the plants we've discovered within the American study area thus far by clicking HERE. We still have one plant we are having trouble identifying. Scroll down to the bottom of the list and see if you might be able to help.
FIRST FLORA DATA
Thank you to everyone who came out for the first Vacant Lands Botanical Spelunking event in May. Who knew sleuthing for weeds could be so much fun! Over the course of the next month we will be identifying every plant spotted and uploading the info onto the Vacant Lands site. To see the first flush of flora data collected, click HERE.
MAY 2015: FIRST EVENT!
The first Vacant Lands event will be held on May 24, 2015, in Broakland, CA. We will be gathering outside the Vacant Lands Rancho at 1829 63rd Street, Berkeley, CA 94703, at 10:00 a.m., and will be setting off to take stock of all of the wacky and wild plants growing in overlooked spaces within the Broakland Study Area. Wear a pair of comfy shoes, and bring a phone with a camera if you have one, as well as a writing utencil. We'll provide the rest. If you would like to download the flyer and spread the word, or if you would like to have it just for posterity's sake, you may right-click, or option + click HERE.
MARCH 2015: FIRST EXPLORATORY MISSIONS FORTHCOMING!
We will be holding our first exploratory/fact-finding missions in both Berkeley/Oakland (aka Broakland), USA, and Stockholm, SE. These will be citizen-science-based events where all are welcome to attend. So if you dig anything concerning urban wildlife, plants, ecology, neglected spaces, weeds, and the like, this will be your thang. If you would like to receive details about the upcoming events, please email us at email@example.com. In the meantime, please explore the website to learn more about the project.
FEBRUARY 2015: WEBSITE LAUNCH
The new Vacant Lands site is up! Please take a moment to explore it and learn more about the project. Our first citizen-science-based events will be held quite soon (both in Berkeley/Oakland, USA, and Stockholm, SE), so stay tuned for details.
